Marylee learned to sew as a child and always loved playing with fabric. After years of sewing clothing and quilt making, she discovered art quilts. She moved from the standard, more traditional form of quilt making into the realm of fiber art. She enjoys surface design on fabric using dyes, paints and various 3-dimensional embellishments. She often designs her own patterns and uses fabric she has manipulated and dyed to create her art work. In addition to fiber art that can be displayed on the wall she enjoys using her fiber art pieces in functional items such as purses, wearable art clothing, notebooks and journals.
Marylee’s award wining art quilts have been on display in several juried statewide exhibits as well as major international shows in Brazil.
