I love the sculptural quality of felt. Using wool, silk, and fiber, my designs take on a story as I add complexity with materials I have spun, dyed, stitched or gleaned. The heart of each piece is in the magical transformation that takes place when wool is "wetted" and the elements fuse into a unique piece. With a background in pottery and printmaking, I have been felting for the last five years. I discovered my mother's "stash" of wool and yarn leftover from her days as a weaver and spinner; I just feel at home with these materials. My work is expanding to include sculptural shapes, vessels and wall pieces and I look forward to the continuing exploration.
