Susan Stoll

Photographer Susan Stoll is captivated by the intricate patterns and colors found in
nature. Her work often highlights flora and fauna, with recent projects delving into
abstract interpretations of water reflections. Susan’s keen eye seeks out hidden
qualities in the natural world that might otherwise go unnoticed by a passersby. Through
her photography, she hopes to inspire viewers to appreciate not only the beauty
captured in her images but also the beauty that surrounds them in everyday life.
Susan's artistic vision was shaped by many influential art instructors, including the
renowned Wayne Thiebaud. From him, she learned more than just the fundamentals of
color, composition, light, and space—she also gained a deep understanding of the
importance of truly knowing her subject matter. For many years, Susan shared her love
of nature and creative expression as a Montessori and art teacher, where she
witnessed the joy and wonder that comes from observing and exploring the natural
world through the eyes of a child.
An active supporter of the arts, Susan currently serves as a board member for the
Placer Artists Tour. Her work is featured in both public and private collections, and she
is a member of The Artery, Auburn Old Town Gallery, and High Hand Gallery in Loomis.
For Susan, photography is not just a passion but a way of seeing and celebrating the
world’s beauty.
