Cathy is an award winning artist who has been teaching and designing jewelry since 1969. She is currently exploring the challenge of vitreous enamel in her one-of-a-kind jewelry. “I enjoy the rich color, depth of transparency and the technical challenge that vitreous enamel presents.” The enamels are fused onto the metal in several or multiple firings-- sometimes up to twenty or more-- using a variety of techniques and occasionally using 24K gold and fine silver as well. With proper care, enamels are long lasting; in museums there are examples dating back to the 5th century B.C.!
Cathy has a Master's Degree in Jewelry Design, studied jewelry in London, England and Guadalajara, Mexico and has completed the Revere Academy’s Graduate Jeweler program. She has also taken numerous seminars and workshops from nationally and internationally known enamellists and metalsmiths. Her work in silver, gold and vitreous enamel is currently being shown at the Carmel Galleries in Truckee and Calistoga, the James Harold Gallery in Tahoe City, as well as in her studio/gallery at the Gomez Arts Center in Auburn, California where she is an Artist in Residence
