Max works from life to create paintings in oil and acrylic, and drawings in pastel and charcoal. Her portfolio includes still life subjects and her first love, the human figure. Max's color palette is clear, pure and vibrant as she paints layer upon layer, until that "Aha!" moment when she thinks, "This needs more red." Max's work process, a fusion of classical and organic approaches, is concerned with techniques that allow her to make sense of what she sees. In a chaotic world, Max (from Maxfield) is happy to create work that honors the everyday goodness of life and the human form, that is approachable, and that is, simply, lovely. Along with showing her work in Placer, Amador, Nevada and Sacramento counties, Max has also done commercial book illustration, film animation for Lee Mendelsohn Studios, and posters for NBC TV. Retiring from a career in public education, Max can be found daily in her new North Auburn "Artists in Cahoots Studios and Gallery." John Kennedy and Linda Green will show together with Max.
